If you pay any attention to the financial news, you have undoubtedly heard about how the jobs data in the US has been better than expected the last two months. Does this mean that all of our financial problems are over? Not quite. In fact, I think this is nothing more than a blip on the radar screen. I hate to be a negative Nelly, but I think they've just managed to put a Band-Aid on a gushing artery and claimed that we're all better. If you make a forecast that completely sucks and then the result is something that only kind of sucks, the whole thing still sucks. You don't polish it up and call it the greatest thing in the history of the world. I don't say all this to get anyone down. I think we have to stay as positive as possible. Just don't believe everything the media and Wall Street tells you. After all, they're the ones who got us into this mess in the first place. We heard a lot of the same BS back before 2008 when all the experts said, "Nothin' to see here. Keep it movin'."

Quantitative easing is a policy that the Federal Reserve has used twice now in the last few years to "stimulate" the economy. While the Fed has stated numerous times that it's not causing inflation, many of us would beg to differ. In fact, gas prices aren't really rising. The dollar is simply falling in value. Have you noticed how much it costs to buy groceries lately? I know...it's ridiculous. I know QE isn't the only cause of inflation, but it does seem to bump it up a notch. Luckily, QE3 doesn't appear to be on the immediate horizon. You know... at least until we go to war with someone else and we need to generate some more cash for the "fight against terror." According to the head of the Federal Reserve in St. Louis, QE3 will not be needed unless the economy starts to deteriorate. Recent data has suggested that the economy is growing slowly. So hopefully, we won't need QE3 in the foreseeable future.

And...we're back in business. Or at least that seems to be the market sentiment in response to an austerity measure that was passed in Greece. Stocks in the US and around the world have started to rebound in response to the hopes that Greece will not default after all. Does this mean that we're out of the woods and we can all go back to our toxic derivative trading and CFD's? Well, not exactly. Don't buy into all the hype just yet. It's still going to take some major changes to the banking sector for us to avoid further problems in the future. Yes, there is reason for optimism, but we ain't out of the woods yet.

In the financial markets, you never can be really sure of what to expect. Today, stocks are on the rise. This is partly due to the Greek austerity deal that is in the works and partly because of rumors of the new iPad. At the same time, Marketwatch says that corporate insiders are selling their stock like they haven't done in awhile. Hmm...something might be up there. Guess we'll find out when the markets move one way or another. Hopefully, this doesn't mean anything and the market rebound will continue.

Been paying attention to the financial news lately? If so, you've probably noticed that things seem to be on the upswing. There were 250,000+ jobs added to the US economy in January, which is way more than what they expected. Consumer confidence is up and a lot of other economic indicators seem to be pointing upwards. Many of the financial indexes are higher than they've been in many years. All appears to be right in the world for the time being. Of course, you may not be as optimistic about the markets as some are. If so, you're not alone. Other indicators like the Baltic Dry Index (see earlier post) aren't painting as rosy of a picture. Be careful not to place only buy trades in the Forex market because of the news reports. The "powers that be" have been known to manipulate the markets in one way or another in an attempt to get even richer when everyone bets on a recovery. I'm not trying to peddle doom and gloom like one of those guys that says "buy my e-book now and it'll help you get through the imminent financial collapse." I'm just saying...be careful out there.

If you've turned on the news lately, you have undoubtedly heard something about Iran and how it's a major threat to the rest of the world if it gets a nuke. Is this really the reason the US wants to take down their government? I'd say probably not. There are most likely several reasons, but one of the biggest is the risk that it's putting on the dollar as the reserve currency in the world. For many years, oil has been sold in dollars, which propped up the value of the United States dollar. Iran has been messing with this by selling oil to China, Russia, India and some other countries in other currencies and even gold. If this keeps up, countries will eventually start to get away from the dollar as the world's reserve currency. If this happened, it would really hurt the economy of the United States. Could this be the real reason that the US is chomping at the bit to bomb Tehran?

If you've paid any attention to the news lately, you've probably seen something along the lines of a story talking about currency collapse or certain doom. Is this a legitimate threat? In my opinion, it is a threat if we don't do something about it. The dollar is the reserve currency in the world as it stands now. The Federal Reserve is content to continue printing money and bailing out their banking buddies (including Europe) and hope that no one notices. Unfortunately, we all notice in the form of higher prices. They might get by with it without anyone noticing except for that whole thing of no one's pay going up at the same time. When prices increase while income stays the same, people tend to get pissy. Does this mean that we're all doomed to grow our own food and sleep in front of our doors with a shotgun? I hope not. But the options are getting limited and unless we do something drastic (especially in the US) we're going to be in trouble within the next 5 years. In my humble opinion, I think anything that includes the status quo (electing Obama, Romney, Gingrich or Santorum) would just continue the slow decline of our once-great country. I really didn't intend for this to be another pro Ron Paul post, but looks like it is. I'm sorry, but the other guys just apparently don't care about the elephant in the room which is our ballooning national debt. It's not going to go away without actually cutting some of the out-of-control spending. And last time I checked...let's see...how many candidates are even talking about making cuts? Oh yeah...that's right. Just Ron Paul! So feel free to argue about the crap that isn't going to lead to certain financial collapse for us all and marginalize Paul because you think he's old or cranky or whatever the media tells you he is. Just don't start crying when the dollar collapses and only one candidate tried to do anything about it.

As we've covered here ad nauseum and you've undoubtedly heard elsewhere, the Euro is in trouble. Who knows if it'll ever get back up to the value that it once was at. Recently, it hit the lowest point that it's been in a long time against the dollar and most experts expect it to go even lower. Things are starting to get real in Europe. Will it ever come back and things get back to the way they were? Honestly, I don't know. Hopefully they will because Europe is big enough that it'll affect most other things in the world also.

But I'm going on a limb and I'm going to say I'm fully behind Ron for the President of the United States. But wait...all the news channels say he's crazy! Doesn't that mean he's crazy and we should go for the status quo Mitt Romney? If you really believe that the mainstream media tells the truth, you probably need to have your head examined. If you still think the guy is nuts and doesn't know what he's talking about, just take a sec to watch this video. If he's been this unbelievably accurate, why shouldn't we believe his message now?

With all the talk about the election of 2012 coming up in the US, one candidate is running on a platform that could directly affect the Forex market. Ron Paul is a Republican candidate from the state of Texas and he is a big believer in Austrian economics and the gold standard. In fact, he got into politics the day after Richard Nixon abandoned the gold standard and went to a fiat system. Paul knew that no civilization has ever lasted more than about 40 years after using paper money. Paul is one of the few politicians that seems to actually know what's going on in the world and has some pretty good ideas to help. He's definitely not perfect, but he seems like the smartest candidate to me. If you watch CNN or Fox News, you'd think he was the equivalent of a creepy old uncle who lives down the street who yells at the neighborhood kids. However, if you've got a brain, you can see that he's really nothing like that. If you don't know anything about him or the idea, check out the link below.
