The Metatrader Download Process

The Metatrader download process can seem a little bit overwhelming if you have never completed it before. If you're a newbie and you don't have much technical experience, don't feel bad. It doesn't mean that you can participate. It just means that you're going to have to branch out a little bit and test your limits. I promise that once you get the hang of it, it becomes really easy. I'll walk you through the process of installing the popular Forex trading software on your computer. Then you can get started trading the Forex market right away.

Broker Information

Before you can install the Metatrader 4 or 5 software on your computer, you're going to need to find a broker to work with. You could always download a basic Metatrader platform to your computer, but it usually makes sense to go ahead and download a copy from a broker that you are going to trading with.

Forex brokers sometimes customize the trading platform slightly and it's better to get technical support this way.

Most of the time, you'll need to fill out a form to open the account. This will include some personal information like your name, address and phone number. You'll also have to fund your accont before you can start trading.

Metatrader Download Process

After you get set up with the broker, they will give you the download details for your account. Most of the time, they'll simply direct you to a link that will begin the download process. Once you click on the link, it will start downloading the .exe file.

At that point, you'll need to open the .exe file. This will open an installer program. The installer program will walk you through the process of installing Metatrader on your computer. You basically just keep clicking on "Next" until you get to the end.

It will pick a spot to install the program on your computer automatically. You also have the option of changing the spot if you don't like where it is saving the program.

Once you're done, you click on "Finish" and the program will be installed.

Getting Set Up

After you're done installing the program, you double-click on the icon to open it. At that point, you'll see a login box displayed. If not, simply click on the "File" tab at the top and then click "Login."

You will then enter the userid and password that was given to you when you sign up with the broker. The broker usually emails this information to you. After you login, you'll see all of your account information down at the bottom of the screen. It will show your current account balance.
