Online Trading Companies

What to Look For

Online trading companies give you the ability to trade the financial markets in your PJ's. When it comes to the Forex market, it's the only way to trade. If you're new to the Forex market, it's important to ensure that you have a solid broker to work with.

Side note: If you're looking for information on specific brokers, check out our Forex brokers page to find what you need.

Choosing a Broker

When it comes to trading in the currency market, you can't simply choose your broker by closing your eyes and pointing at the screen. You actually need to do some homework and see what you're signing up for. A good broker can be the difference between living large and struggling to get by.

Reputation

When evaluating online trading companies, it's important to see what type of reputation they have. If the vast majority of traders don't like a broker, there's a good chance you won't like it either. Check with the regulating agency in your country or region. For example, the National Futures Association regulates the brokers in the United States and they have a listing of customer complaints for you to check out. If the broker has a complaints list the size of Lindsay Lohan's rap sheet, you're probably in trouble. Just avoid that broker and move on to another one.

Spreads

If you're familiar with the Forex market, you know that most brokers are paid by collecting the spread on each trade. Check out the Forex spreads that your broker offers before funding your account. If the spreads are too high, it can have an impact on your profitability. If you're using an expert advisor to trade, you may not even get as many trades as you should.

Convenience

When you choose a broker to work with, the level of convenience they provide is something to consider. If the broker does not have convenient methods of deposit and withdrawal, it's not going to be a very enjoyable experience for you.

If the trading platform that the broker offers isn't easy to use, you'll probably struggle. If you can't get in touch with the broker through email or on the phone, you're destined to be frustrated at some point.

Considerations

If you're looking for a broker to trade with, you might want to get something back on the trades you place. Instead of just giving the entire spread to the broker, you could get some of that back, regardless of whether you win or lose.
